DR. CHARLES H. WOOD, JR. opened Old Dominion Animal Hospital in 1982. He
graduated from The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, and
returned to Virginia in 1981. He is a Past-President and current Member of The Blue Ridge
Mountains Rotary Club where he received a certificate of appreciation for his
significant contribution to the eradication of Polio throughout the world.
He also became a Paul Harris Fellow for his support of friendly relations
between peoples of the world. Dr. Wood has received recognition from area
SPCAs, Caring Canine Companions - A Service Dog Organization, and was given
the Profiles in Compassion Award. He proudly supports area public schools
and participates in their Partnership in Education Programs. Dr. Wood's
family pets currently include an Australian Shepherd dog, three cats, and
fish. Dr. Wood and his wife, Virginia, have two children and live on a
mountain in Nelson County.
DR. ALLISON KRAMER joined Old Dominion Animal Hospital
in 2007 after graduating from veterinary school at Virginia
Tech. She received her Bachelors degree in Biolology from
James Madison University. Dr. Kramer has special interests
in small animal dentistry, surgery, and internal medicine.
She live in Crozet with her husband, 2 dogs, and cat. Outside
of work, Dr. Kramer enjoys running, crafting, antiquing,
and spending time with family.
DR. KERRI HUDSON joined Old Dominion Animal Hospital in May 2008. She and her husband, Brenton,
are both Kansas natives, and she graduated from Kansas State University in 2005. In practice, she has a
special interest in internal and preventative medicine. Dr. Hudson feels that client education, communication,
and trust is key to strengthening the human-animal bond.
Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, reading, traveling, and playing with her
energetic Border Collie mix, Sparrow.
DR. NELLIE BIERLY practices both conventional and alternative veterinary medicine
at Old Dominion Animal Hospital. She graduated from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.
From 1989-1997 she practiced in a mixed animal practice in Lexington, Virginia. She became certified in veterinary
acupuncture in 1995 and became certified in veterinary chiropractic in 1999. She now travels throughout south and north
West Virginia to provide acupuncture and chiropractic treatment for pets. She currently practices at Old Dominion
Animal Hospital every Wednesday. The focus of her practice is musculoskeletal issues including lameness, arthritis,
back and neck pain, paralysis and weakness. She has also developed a special interest in the athlete and performance
dogs and their injuries resulting from agility, fly ball and obedience work.
