Costume Coordination

October just started, but it’s never too early to design Halloween costumes for you and your pet. Whether you plan to spend the 31st at parties, parades or just trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, you and your furry friend should dress to impress. And why not dress up together? Here are six ideas for human-animal coordinated costumes:

Dorothy and Toto
With the blue-checked dress for you and the wicker basket for your dog, this classic outfit is sure to delight all the neighborhood movie-lovers.

Harry Potter and Ron Weasley
Just get matching wizard hats and Gryffindor scarves, and abracadabra! You’re instantly the two protagonists of J.K. Rowling’s beloved series. Use makeup to paint Harry’s scar on your forehead (though we don’t recommend drawing on your pet’s fur, of course). Plus, Ron is a perfect role for animals with naturally red coats!

Han Solo and Chewbacca
You don’t have to be as handsome as Harrison Ford to pull off this outfit. (But it couldn’t hurt.) All you have to do is throw on the classic black vest and boots and get ready to defend the Rebel Alliance. If your canine already looks like a wookiee (like the hilarious Brussels Griffon), even better!

Batman and Robin
Who could forget one of the most popular superhero-sidekick pairs of all time? Obviously your pet is the real superhero and will portray Batman, and you get to be his trusty second-in-command. There’s no shortage of doggie Batman costumes available online, and dressed as the two caped crusaders, you’ll fit in perfectly with all the neighborhood kids.

Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat
If you’re feeling really crafty, create a cat sweater with the Cheshire cat’s purple stripes. And don’t forget Alice’s blue dress and white pinafore for you. Even if your feline isn’t a fan of dressing up, Halloween guests will see your outfit and understand that it’s the thought that counts.

Scooby Doo and Shaggy
Paste on a goatee and slip into a green V-neck shirt, and you’re ready to go for a ride in the Mystery Machine! Recreate Scooby Doo’s famous “SD” collar for your pet. It should be easy to persuade him to wear it — he’ll do anything for a Scooby Snack!
