Old Dominion Animal Hospital is equipped with modern, high-speed veterinary dental cleaning machines and our staff is highly trained at pet dentistry. Our pet dental cleanings use digital dental radiography for extremely clear dental images and better diagnoses. Digital x-rays also allow our pet dentistry technicians to show you your pet’s teeth. Talk to your pet dental cleaning technician about your pet’s dental exam. Full mouth x-rays are included in dental cleaning procedures, and radiographs of roots are the only way to identify whether a tooth is healthy or extractions are required.

We offer FREE pet dental cleaning exams for all patients! We encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity to address dental concerns and questions about your pet dentistry!

Regular dentistry check-ups and cleanings are just as important for pets as they are for humans! We’re are happy to provide preventive pet dental cleaning health care supplies and we have the most up-to-date pet dental cleaning equipment and training to keep your pet’s mouth and gums healthy.

Some symptoms of dental problems may include:

    • Bad breath
    • Red or swollen gums, bleeding from the mouth
    • Discolored loose, broken, or missing teeth
    • Loss of appetite or weight
    • Swollen parts of the face or mouth

Healthy teeth and gums are important to your pet’s health. If left untreated, dental problems can cause more serious health problems when oral bacteria enters the bloodstream. Organs most commonly affected include the lungs, heart, kidneys, and liver. When these organs become infected it can be dangerous. Regular oral exams, cleanings, and periodontal care should be an important part of your health plan!
